Welcome to the heart of Ballymena Cricket Club's future—the Ballymena U9s squad! This is the joyful starting line where every young cricketer's journey truly begins. Our programme at this foundational level is designed to ignite a passion for the game, with a focus that is purely on fun, high levels of participation, and learning the very basic, essential foundations of cricket. Operating exclusively with soft-ball formats, we ensure every session is safe, social, and energetic, allowing children to learn core movements through energetic games. We aim to establish early concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship in an encouraging environment, ensuring that every child leaves Eaton Park with a smile and a growing love for the sport.
Format: We play soft-ball cricket exclusively (no hard balls), often using the 'Kwik Cricket' or equivalent format which keeps everyone active and engaged.
Key Skills: Learning to hold a bat, understanding catching technique, basic throwing skills, and running between the wickets.
Teamwork: Introducing the concept of being part of a team, sharing equipment, and celebrating everyone’s successes.
Ages: For children aged 8 and under (up to the end of primary school P5).
